Pontiac Community Foundation believes strongly in the importance of our community feeling valued, and this begins with developing spaces for people to gather, congregate, and recreate. No one embodies this desire more than Mattie McKinney Hatchett, a community leader and legend. For this reason, Pontiac Community Foundation will be redeveloping Mattie McKinney Hatchett Park, formerly Neighborhood Park, located near Paddock and Perkins Streets on the East side of Pontiac, into a state-of-the-art park for residents of all ages. https://vimeo.com/611034908 The Pontiac Parks and Recreation department was completely dismantled from emergency management, leaving Pontiac community parks without investment. This is your opportunity to be part of the first major park redevelopment in years. This redevelopment will be state of the art and a model for future park development in the city. With your support, we will transform the current space at Mattie McKinney Hatchett Park into a state-of-the-art park for the Pontiac community. The park's amenities are currently in disrepair - even dangerous - for youth and families. The play structure is falling apart, the basketball court is broken up and there is a lack of meaningful amenities at the park now. Your contribution will specifically help us provide a brand new commercial play structure for the park! This park is critical both because it is named after a legacy in the Pontiac community and is surrounded by neighboring families with children who do not have a nice place to play or congregate. For every $2 donated online through Thrivent's online giving platform on Giving Tuesday, November 30, 2021, Thrivent will match $1 up to an additional $20,000 per Thrivent Member Network. All donations in support of this fundraiser will be made through Thrivent Charitable Impact and Investing(TM). Thrivent will pay up to $300,000 in online processing fees per calendar year for personal donations made through Thrivent's online giving platform. Thrivent will also donate $1 per photo or message posted on this page between 11/23/21 and 11/30/21 up to a $1000.
