About Meals from the Heartland

When 1 in 6 Iowa children doesn't know where their next meal will come from, every meal matters. Through the generosity of volunteers, donors, and community partners, Meals from the Heartland delivered support for 2 million meals in 2025, reaching organizations such as DMARC, Backpack Buddies, HACAP Food Reservoir, Northeastern Iowa Food Bank, and many others. Each meal represents hope, dignity, and the power of communities coming together to fight hunger one family at a time. Meals from the Heartland engages thousands of volunteers annually to package millions of meals. Meals are packaged at community events as well as their packaging center in West Des Moines. The meals are distributed locally and internationally. Meal formulas include rice-soy, macaroni and cheese and rice and bean. Join Thrivent and Meals from the Heartland in the fight against hunger this fall! Our fundraising goal is $40,000. Thrivent match is $1 for every $2 raised, up $20,000. *For every $2 donated through this online campaign, Thrivent will add $1, up to an additional $20,000. Thrivent will pay up to $1,000,000 in online processing fees per calendar year for personal donations made through Thrivent's online giving platform.
