$12 donated to HappyBottoms can provide diapers to one child for a month. At a goal of $12,000, we could provide diapers to 1,000 children for a month! Nearly 1 in 2 families with young children do not have enough diapers to keep their child clean, dry and healthy. (The National Diaper Bank Network Diaper Check 2023). HappyBottoms wants to change that. Since 2009 they have been covering the number of diapers a family is short each month, known as the diaper gap, in the Kansas City Metro Area. Not having a clean diaper can really stink! Diapers are not covered by government safety net programs like food stamps, Medicaid, and WIC. An estimated 21,000 children in our metropolitan area need diaper assistance (US Census 2020). Families with young children experiencing diaper need report missing an average of 5.1 workdays per month because they did not have the required number of diapers for their child to attend daycare. Thrivent pays the donation processing fees so 100% of your donation goes to HappyBottoms.* HappyBottoms is a nonprofit diaper bank dedicated to alleviating diaper need. Serving the Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding counties, HappyBottoms has distributed more than 27.5 million diapers since it started in 2009. HappyBottoms’ approach offers access to a monthly supply of the right size diaper for enrolled children. At HappyBottoms, we believe every child deserves the dignity of a clean diaper.
