About Fat Tuesday Youth Supper
WHAT IS FAT TUESDAY AT BETHLEHEM? Fat Tuesday is an annual evening jambalaya supper served by our Family Faith Formation Ministry youth, their parents and FFF staff. This year's event will be held on Tuesday, February 16 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. IS THIS SAFE AND HEALTHY? With health and safety concerns resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's event will feature the following adjustments: +Instead of the traditional in-person supper served in our dining room that is decorated by our youth and parents with a New Orleans theme, meals will be ordered in advance and picked up at the church in a drive-up arrangement. Stay in your car and receive your order from a volunteer! +Student and parent volunteers involved with food preparation and distribution will be limited in numbers, socially distanced and masked. +The traditional in-person silent auction of thematic baskets and bottles of wine contributed by congregational members and various boards and committees will be conducted online during the February 7-14. See the BLC Facebook page for details. HOW DO I GET A MEAL? Supper tickets will be sold in advance for $8 for adults and $5 for children. Check out the BLC website or Facebook page to purchase tickets. Deadline is February 7. HOW WILL THIS HELP BETHLEHEM? All revenue supports Family Faith Formation youth travel for annual mission trips and national youth gatherings including the 2022 event scheduled for Minneapolis. Such fundraising is invaluable in providing more young people with the opportunity to participate in such events. The goal is to contribute to faith formation for each participant. This is also a wonderful opportunity to build relationships among young and old alike. It is a great experience for our youth to see the commitment of adults to important youth faith-building activities.
