About Kids Empowered On the Move
Believe in the Magic of what a small group of people can do. Because we are doing it....we are BOOTS on the Ground. Kids Empowered On the Move (KEOTM) has provided empowerment programs for over 20 years to children facing poverty. When the pandemic hit, KEOTM pivoted to expand our mission to meet the basic and emergency needs of children and families in poverty and homelessness, including raising funds to provide beds and other furniture, bedding, clothing, food, car repair, transportation, and case management. KEOTM also collaborated with other organizations to, for example, provide weekly grocery delivery to 150-250 through My Covid Response and currently Lighthouse and Oakland Hope to deliver over 18,000. food deliveries. Some of what we have done since the pandemic started: *Raised money to buy 5 mobile homes for homeless families. *Spent over $100,000.00 book hotel rooms for homeless families *Created Adopt a Family for Christmas- 300 families that need of Christmas Joy. https://holiday.kidsempoweredonthemove.org/ *Delivered Easter Meals -For the last 3 years over 1,000 kids, parents and Seniors receive a prepared Easter Meal. *Delivered Easter Baskets- For the last 3 years over 600 kids receive Easter Baskets. *Delivered to over 300 hundred families furniture and household items. *Delivered to over 500 kids books, desks, bedding, beds. *Paid for over 15 cars to be repaired and purchased 2 cars for families. *Helped over 35 families and Seniors get housing or prevent eviction. Over 1,000 volunteers have participated since the pandemic started. If you would like to be involved email kimber@kidsempowered.com Our $45,000.00 goal will help us fund the following initiatives: *$15,000. enables us to provide emergency hotel and food for one to two weeks for 10-16 homeless families while we try and get them connected to services and housed. *$10,000. Enables us to prevent 5-10 families from getting evicted or a deposit to get housed. *$5,000 pays for 250 children to participate in our online event with an Author of a children’s book. Book Buddy program. Children will receive the author’s book, a fleece blanket, and goodies delivered right to their door. Prizes will be given to make the event more fun. *$10,000. pays for 6-12 cars related needs. Car repairs and insurance payments. *$5,000. helps over 50 families to pay for things like transportation, childcare, phone shut offs, bedding, and moving costs of donated furniture. The Pontiac Impact Challenge is an initiative of Pontiac Community Foundation and is designed to provide critical investment into Pontiac nonprofits. This year, we are proud to provide financial awards to our top three Challenge participants. In addition, the Pontiac Community Foundation will provide a $1 for every comment and/or photo added to this page up to $250 per participating organization. Thrivent will pay up to $300,000 in online processing fees per calendar year for personal donations made through Thrivent's online giving platform.
